What is gluten?

Some cereals (wheat, barley, rye and oats) naturally contain gluten, which is a protein. Gluten is vital to the baking process as it makes bread rise – giving the traditional style of Hovis loaf that you love and enjoy. People suffering from gluten intolerance or coeliac disease must avoid any cereal containing gluten. Hovis clearly label their products to show which contain gluten – look in the Allergen Information box on the back of pack.
