The first loaf to be made with nutrient rich wheatgerm. The first to advertise on TV. The first without a crust… the history of the Hovis brand is a history of new ideas and innovations designed to bring our baking know-how to our range of white, wholemeal and wheatgerm breads.
Hovis in 1936
A campaign entitled ‘Had Your Hovis Today?’ was introduced featuring hockey girls, golfers, tennis players, walkers and gardeners. 1937 - 38 saw the development of the fitness link with Hovis. Advertisements campaigned for a ‘Fitter Britain’ and Hovis produced exercise charts for men, women and children.
