History of Hovis
The first loaf to be made with nutrient rich wheatgerm. The first to advertise on TV. The first without a crust… the history of the Hovis brand is a history of new ideas and innovations designed to bring our baking know-how to our range of white, wholemeal and wheatgerm breads.
Hovis in 1930
This era heralded the most general use of the motor car and, just as they had pioneered the cycle maps and good guest houses in 1899, Hovis introduced the ‘Teas With Hovis’ campaign and signs sprang up all over the countryside to direct the thirsty motorist. A useful motoring map followed which went on sale to the public.
