The first loaf to be made with nutrient rich wheatgerm. The first to advertise on TV. The first without a crust… the history of the Hovis brand is a history of new ideas and innovations designed to bring our baking know-how to our range of white, wholemeal and wheatgerm breads.
Hovis in 1895
Sales of Hovis had exceeded 1 million loaves per week. Due to this success many small bakers were pretending their loaves were made of Hovis flour, so the public were warned of imitations. Many unlicensed dealers were taken to court to safeguard our trademark.
