Hovis in 1896
By this year, due to successful advertising attributed to John Figgins Morton, Hovis was established as a household name. One and a half pounds of Hovis was said to be ‘more digestible and nourishing than half a pound of beefsteak and one pound of white bread - at one third the cost’.
